THE VENUE
Barton Court is a Georgian country house set within its own grounds in the Herefordshire countryside, close to the borders of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
Surrounded by mature gardens, the house welcomes guests from the moment they turn into the drive. A thousand years of history generates a marked sense of permanence.
Inside, generous rooms connect easily to one another, allowing weddings to move naturally through the day - from ceremony to drinks, dining and evening celebrations - enjoying all the wonderful elements of this beautiful property.
Weddings at Barton Court range from intimate celebrations held entirely within the house to larger gatherings that make use of the gardens and estate buildings.
The House
The house at Barton Court is well suited to small, intimate weddings held indoors. With a series of connected, elegant, Georgian rooms, it provides a comfortable and welcoming setting for smaller celebrations, where close family and friends can gather together in one place.
For celebrations of up to around 40 guests, the house can accommodate ceremonies, drinks and dining inside and outside, if weather permits.
Larger weddings make use of the wider estate, with ceremonies and receptions taking place in a variety of locations: The Walled Garden, the Saw Mill or the Dutch Barn.
This allows the house to remain a place of arrival, gathering and retreat, while larger celebrations unfold beyond it.
The Grounds
The grounds at Barton Court provide space and flexibility for weddings that extend beyond the house. Gardens wrap around the main building, creating natural areas for drinks, outdoor ceremonies and unstructured time between key moments of the day.
For larger celebrations, The Walled Garden allows for marquee weddings that sit comfortably within the landscape, enjoying to the maximum the glorious views of the Malvern Hills. Guests can move easily between house, garden and reception spaces, with the estate working as a whole rather than as a series of separate venues.
The grounds offer breathing space - somewhere to step outside, wander, talk and gather - supporting weddings that feel open, relaxed and connected to their surroundings.
How weddings work at Barton Court
Weddings at Barton Court are shaped around the scale of the celebration and the spaces that suit it best. Smaller weddings may take place entirely within the house, while larger gatherings make use of the gardens, the Saw Mill and the Dutch Barn for ceremonies, dining and evening celebrations.
This approach allows the day to feel cohesive rather than divided between locations. Guests arrive at the house, move naturally into gardens or estate buildings as the celebration grows, and remain connected throughout. The emphasis is on flow and continuity, rather than fixed formats or rigid schedules.
By using the estate in this way, Barton Court is able to host a range of weddings — from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations — while preserving the character of the house and the calm of its setting.
